Presbyterian Women ~

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ And empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study to support the mission of the Church worldwide, to work for justice and peace and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom

From the Communications Office of Presbyterian Women: Louisville, Kentucky

Presbyterian Women (PW)  has a long tradition of mission service worldwide. We are "can do" women. When the need is present PW answers with prayers, money, creativity and the work of our hands - whatever it takes to respond in Christian love and sisterhood.

Our concept of mission has changed over time. Today, we know it is important to reach out to others with dignity and respect. It is not our purpose to turn others into people just like ourselves. By reaching out with God's love, walking in the footsteps of another and giving from our wealth and talent, we allow ourselves to receive the gifts others offer. Now, we embrace partnerships and build communities that allow each of us to become all that God has called us to be. Together, we can work for the kingdom and the glory of God.

Presbyterian Women's Circles at DPC

Dot New Circle meets every month on the second Tuesday at 10:00 am in Founders' Hall. We gather for refreshments and fellowship, continue to the business portion of the meeting and conclude with Bible study. The current study is Above and Beyond; Hearing God's Call in Jonah and Ruth. One of our long term projects involves providing support for the outreach programs of the Village Church.  We are working with the Betty McMillen Service Circle to help meet some of the needs at the Domestic Violence Intervention Center. Providing Christmas gifts for children in foster care has been another one of our short term projects.

Betty McMillen Service Circle continues to grow. We have approximately 20 members of various ages and interests.  We meet the 4th Sunday of each month directly following worship service and begin with lunch, hosted by different members. Bible study follows, using the annual Horizon Bible Study PC(USA) approved curriculum. We conduct various fundraisers to aid in service projects, which include Magdalene House, Domestic Violence Intervention Center, and taking care of each other in times of trouble or stress, such as death, surgery, divorce, etc. We have also helped to provide Thanksgiving baskets for Second Harvest Food Bank, meals for Vanderbilt University Presbyterian students, and sent gifts to the college age young people of DPC, and packages of necessities to our soldiers in Iraq. Annually, we have a Christmas dinner during which we exchange gifts. Newcomes and visitors are always welcome.
