Baptism is a symbolic washing with water in which a person is called by Christ's love and empowered to show that love to others. Then we welcome that person to the Lord's Supper. This is a symbolic meal in which we as a church family refocus ourselves on Christ's love.
Sacrament of the Lord's Supper
Donelson Presbyterian Church celebrates the Sacrament of Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) on the first Sunday of each month.
The Lord’s Supper is the sign and seal of eating and drinking in communion with the crucified and risen Lord.
On the day of his resurrection, the risen Jesus made himself known to his followers in the breaking of bread. He continued to show himself to believers, by blessing and breaking bread, by preparing, serving, and sharing common meals.
The New Testament describes the meal as participation in Christ and with one another in the expectation of the Kingdom and as a foretaste of the messianic banquet.
All the baptized faithful are to be welcomed to the Table, and none shall be excluded because of race, sex, age, economic status, social class, handicapping condition, difference of culture or language, or any barrier created by human injustice.
Worship Aids
A telex system is available for those persons who have difficulty in hearing our service. Please see an usher for instructions and use. Large print hymnals, Bibles and Bulletins are available for those persons who have difficulty in seeing smaller print. Please see an usher and they will be happy to provide these resources for you.
Childcare available
Childcare is available for Sunday morning worship services and on special occasions. We have a paid childcare provider for our nursery available each Sunday morning (ages birth to 1 year). The toddler room (ages 2 and 3 years of age and the pre-school room ages 4 and 5 year olds) are loving attended by volunteers from our congregation.
Coffee on Sunday mornings
The church furnishes coffee for those attending Sunday School each week. Coffee is set up in the kitchen on a self serve basis. Each Sunday School class takes a turn in cleaning up afterwards.
Donut Sunday On the last Sunday of each month, the Congregational Enrichment Ministry treats the congregation to Donuts and beverages between Sunday School and Worship Service. Please feel free to join us between 9:45 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. in Founders’ Hall.
Casual Sunday
On the last Sunday of each month the congregation of Donelson Presbyterian Church dresses in a more casual fashion.
